I have many theories for how Season 3 is going to go, but the big one is that, even though Laura won't like it, is that either in this Volume or in Volume 4 which is also supposed to be this season, Sylar will finally meet his demise. It'd be a shame, because he makes a great antagonist, but except in comic books that go on forever, every villian has to either suceed or fail in the end, and while it would be brave and different for the writers to have Sylar win and take over the world, I doubt the network would look on that kindly.

As for how, well, I'm sure Peter will be there, but if we learned anything from the end of Season 1, as powerful as he is, Peter won't be able to beat Sylar alone. At best a one on one would lead to a draw. The analogy I use comes from Kevin Eastman, co-creator of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.  He was asked by the guy who directed the latest movie who the best fighter truly was of the four, and Eastman had an interesting answer. He said that actually Michaelangelo had the potential to be the ebst fighter of all of them, but his personality was just too laid back for him to ever reach that. I think this fits Peter in the sense that in order to truly defeat Sylar, Peter would have to go to a very dark place in himself that we know he's afraid of. We know that from when he was so hesitant to open the box Ricky had given him near the start of Season 2. I think of the great Garibaldi line from Season 3 of babylon 5. "I'm afraid, all the time, of what would happen if I lost control."

Another idea, one my roommate and I came up with, probably won't happen this volume or the next, but it would be great for Volume 5. Hiro accidentally travels into the future, and sees a world where powered people aren't hunted or feared, but rather worshipped. He even stumbles across a statue of himself at one point. At first glance this world seems awesome, but as he explores he discovers that this is not neccesarily a good thing, because the powered aren't seen as Heroes, but as Gods, and that leads to some, insert dramatic pause here, problems.

Hey, who says that dystopia has to be ugly and on fire? Remember how shiny and pretty all the Alliance worlds were on Firefly? And the Alliance wasn't exactly a Utopia. It just looked like it on the surface.

Ok, so I've managed to make references to TMNT, B5, and Firefly, all in one post. How many geek points is that?

Oh, and as for the formula, who else besides me immediately thought of Zupra from Playing For Keeps?

I think that Angela will meet her demise fairly early in the season. This being after she revealed some sort of huge plot point or unearthed the answer to a huge secret, of course. Also, I believe that either Molly or Micah will leave the show. Not necessarily by death, but by the character simply becoming obselete. I think that Maya's character will be significantly improved upon. That, or she will be killed off about a quarter of the way in. I think that the significance of the eclipse will be explained. I think that HRG will be forced to return to the company and be paired with another new powered person that will turn out to be a villain, who he will then have to kill. I think that Claire will get a little more badass and a little less whiny. I think that Angela's power will be revealed. I think that there will be another whole episode set in the future, this time without Hiro having to travel. I think that Hiro will get a little more badass, and a little bit darker too. I think that he will have an inner conflict between good and evil. I think that Adam will return to the show in some form or another. I don't think that there will be another "Six Months Ago" or "Four Months Ago" type of episode, simply because the season will probably pick up right after Nathan was shot. Oh, and I think that both Nathan and Niki are alive. I think that Matt will turn evil for a brief period of time. I think that Mohinder will get a little more badass. Basically, every character who was sort of wimpy or not really tough will get a little more badass. I think that the whole villains thing will be adressed quite quickly, allowing the villains to wreak havoc early in the season without and tedious backstory. I do not think that Isaac's paintings will play as large a part this season as they had in previous seasons. Finally, I think that Peter and Sylar will have their big showdown at the end of the volume. Previously, their fights have consisted of flying glass and parking meter beatings. I think that it will be power vs. power in a huge battle.

Oh, and that's 18.993 geek points, Arkle.

I think we should reserve answers until after the premiere tonight as you guys are most likely going to want to change some of your opinions. Although some might be right on track. Wink

After having watched the episodes...

I think that although that future might not exist anymore, we'll see that Hiro was the villan, and Ando was the hero. That is also a future where everyone has powers and no one is hunted because they all have it.

Matt will spend 5 episodes or so in Africa, much like Hiro did in Japan.

Peter will "take care of" the guys that escaped from level 5. (by Take care of, I mean kill) Oh, and for the record, that could be how Peter gets the fire ability in "5 years gone" instead of hanging out with Claire's biomom.

Angela Petrelli will survive most if not all of the season (this is the first season she's listed as a regular, instead of a guest).

Niki, Jessica, Gina, Whatever her new name is will get another personality (A 5th!)

Linderman.... I don't know what's going on with him.

I think that Sylar will have some part of his brain removed and will possibly un-do what he did to claire.

that is all for now.

I hope that the whole Ando killing Hiro future event was a show put on by both of them to make present-day Hiro follow a certain sequence of events.

I predict Matt Parkman will have a nice sun tan by episode ~4-5 (The man could surely use one.  Wink)

I suspect Linderman is a mental image being created by some telepathic villain in order to control/manipulate "Senator" Nathan Petrelli.

I think the Haitian wiped Niki/Jessica's memory, and she really doesn't know who she used to be.

I do think Sylar is related to the Petrellis'.

I'm guessing that by the end of the season the only person without superpowers is going to be H.R.G.

I'm hoping to see some romance between Hiro and the French speedster and expecting a relationship to form between Ando and Hiro's sister.

Very curious to see how the Mohinder/Maya relationship works out.

Slight problem with that Melikon. Niki didn't have a freezing power. I know the Haitian is growing in power, but I don't think he can give people powers.

Point taken.   Then again, what powers did Jessica/Niki really have?   Only super-strength?

After seeing last night's episodes, I have a theory regarding Niki's true ability.

In Volume II, Bob told Niki that her "multiple personality disorder" was how her brain coped with the existence of an ability. I believe Niki's ability is in fact the multiple personalities, where each personality has a different ability.

Jessica = Super Strength
Tracy = Freezing
Gina = Ability to party all night long? :p

Any thoughts?

I like the way you think Gerry.   And I thought Two-Face was a complex villain.   I have to ask though, does this mean Niki herself doesn't have jack?   Or has her power not manifested itself yet?   I always thought it peculiar that Niki's power was...becoming Jessica. lol.
Who's Gina?   I like that ability.

Thanks! This is all based on things I personally put together, no advance spoilery knowledge a la Laura. Wink

I think Niki could be considered a superpower hub, where each of her personalities' traits manifest into an ability. For example, Niki channelling Jessica, an aggresive personality, would give her super strength while channelling Tracy, being cold and calculating, would grant her the ability to freeze.

Going along those lines, Niki would be the opposite of Peter and Sylar. If they are "sponges" that soak up abilities, in this particular analogy she'd be the "water", a.k.a. fountain of abilities.

Oh, in "Four Months Ago," Gina "the party girl" was the personality that inadvertently got D.L. shot when he went looking for her in Los Angeles.

Either that, or Niki has a lotta superpowered clones runnin' around.  Undecided

I think that Tracy is really Jessica (not the Jessica that Niki manifested; the Jessica that is supposedly dead). Given Linderman's interest in the Sanders and Hawkins family (evidenced in S1), I think The Company "rescued" Jessica from Hal and placed her with another family. The possibly engaged the servies of a Nullifier (someone similar to The Haitian) to wipe her memory.

The primary strory arc is going to be the release of the Power Acquisition Formula (PAF). As evidenced by Mohinder, the PAF increases agression and overrides control mechanisms. The danger is that the world could becomes populated with villians seeking to satisfy their every desire. Not to mention the mental issues that can result from powers (i.e., Niki), and the lack of control, and the world goes boom.

Future Ando: I believe that Hiro is the one which has gone to the darkside so to speak. and THIS end of the world event was caused by someone with Earthquake powers.

The Formula: My theory on this is that it is a substance which powers up powers and it gets used/abused by Earthquake guy.

Present Peter/Jesse: Peter destroys the world again with earthquake powers.

Sylar: Is now a good guy because of the brainwashing by Angela...not sure how long it would actually last.

Totally Not Niki: Is actually Jessica - The "Real" Jessica never actually died she was taken from Niki by the company Angela was involved with the cover up.

Niki: Is Still Alive. We will see the New Orleans story continue.
